Who we are ...
We are a group of ordinary people who share faith in an extraordinary God and follow an extraordinary saviour, Jesus Christ. We express our love for God through worship, community, and service. As disciples of Jesus, we aspire to be a sign of God’s kingdom in Altona and beyond.
We are a medium sized congregation in the rural farming town of Altona, Manitoba, Canada. We have been in existence for over 130 years. During this time many changes have taken place but the core of who we are has stayed the same. We are a faith community in the tradition of the Mennonite and Anabaptist faith.
We hold to the Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective as our statement of faith.

Mark Tiessen-Dyck – Lead Pastor

Mark came to Altona Bergthaler Mennonite Church in 2018. Mark considers it an honour to walk with people at all places in their journey of faith. Mark’s ministry includes regular preaching and providing pastoral care in our congregation. His vision is for the church to be a living witness to the kingdom of God. In addition to being a pastor, Mark has completed a Master of Divinity degree from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, served with Mennonite Central Committee in Zambia, and managed a thrift store. Mark is married to Melissa and they have two daughters Hannah and Leah. In his free time Mark likes to play with his kids, read, stay active, and explore the outdoors.

Terrell Wiebe - Associate Pastor of Youth

Terrell came to Altona Bergthaler Mennonite Church in 2023. Terrell’s ministry includes junior and senior youth programs, pastoral care, and faith formation for all ages. Terrell sees youth ministry as a chance to accompany youth and their families on their journeys, interpreting where God is at work in their lives, while offering opportunities for faith formation. Terrell has completed a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry Degree from Canadian Mennonite University and pastored in three congregations throughout Manitoba for over a decade in both youth ministry and lead ministry contexts. Terrell is married to Janna, and they have two sons, Rowan and Ivan. In his free time Terrell likes to curl, read fantasy novels, listen to music, disc golf, and play video games with his kids.

Ang Loeppky – Administrative Assistant

Ang has been a part of the ABC community for most of her life and began her role as administrative assistant in March 2022. ABC has always felt like home and the congregants like a family so beginning this role and representing the church in this capacity has felt quite natural. Ang is married to Byron and together they have two daughters, Emily and Hannah. She enjoys interior decorating, floral design, walking (especially with others and her dog), playing her violin and her role as a coach in the local Special Olympics chapter.
